Set your map pin
Why this matters more than it looks
Guests filter and browse by area. A villa with no pin, or a pin in the wrong place, is missing from the map results a guest is scrolling — and the guest never knows it existed. It's one of the few listing fields where being wrong is worse than being blank, because a pin two kilometres inland puts your beachfront villa in the wrong search.
It also drives what guests see on your page: the neighbourhood heading, nearby attractions, and directions in the welcome book all follow the pin.
Setting it
Your location lives on the villa's Details tab, in the Location section. There are two fields.
City — the town or area guests would search for. Use the name a guest would type, not the administrative district. Canggu, not Kabupaten Badung.
Google Maps URL — the share link for your villa's exact spot:
- Open Google Maps and find your villa
- Tap Share
- Copy the link
- Paste it into the Google Maps URL field
- Save location
The link looks like https://maps.app.goo.gl/…. A link you copied from the browser address bar works too.
Drop the pin on the villa, not the village
The most common mistake is searching for your villa's name, getting a result that's roughly right, and sharing that. If your villa isn't a registered Google place, that result is usually the nearest business or the village centre.
Instead: zoom all the way in on satellite view, find your actual roof, long-press to drop a pin there, then share that. Thirty seconds, and it's the difference between guests finding you and guests finding a rice field.
If your villa is on Google Maps as a business, share that listing — it also helps the two show up together in search.
If you imported from an OTA
Listings brought across from Airbnb, VRBO or Booking.com often arrive with no usable coordinates. Those platforms deliberately hide exact locations until a booking is confirmed, and some of them hand out a placeholder pin instead. Bukavilla rejects those placeholders rather than showing guests a location it knows is wrong, which means an imported villa can land with no pin at all.
If your villa came in from an OTA, check the Location section before you do anything else.
The confirmation link
If your villa is live without a usable pin, you may get a one-off link asking you to confirm the location. It opens a page with a map and doesn't require signing in — useful if someone else manages your dashboard, or if you're on a phone.
Two things about it:
- It expires. If the link has lapsed, set the pin from the dashboard instead.
- It's one villa at a time. With several villas, the dashboard is quicker.
Checking it worked
Open your public villa page. The location section should name the right neighbourhood, and the map should show your villa where it actually is. If the neighbourhood heading looks wrong, the pin is wrong — that heading is derived from the coordinates, not from the city field.
